THE PRIVATE TRANSPORT SYSTEM
The private transport system was introduced to Sri Lanka about twelve years ago. It has been quite successful in Sri Lanka. At the begining the rates were much higher than that of the Sri Lanka Transport Board. Only the higher income groups could afford to travel in private coaches while the poorer classes couldn't. But at present the rates are almost equal and almost every one is able to enjoy this facility. This system has not been streamlined yet but it was a great blessing when the railway and the SLTB service couldn't cope with the rush. gradually improved. At present the fleet has been increased and the service has reached a good standard. But there is room for improvement. courteous and kind to the commuters. Overloading has caused many accidents and this must be stopped. Then more people will travel and this system of transport will become very popular.
